14. Metrics for Garden Chickens

Management of all types of birds is made easy with the right type of infrastructure. These portable yard panels provide protection for birds that may be moved with minimal effort to any suitable location within any garden system. It is important not to over fertilise – excess nitrates are toxic.

The chicken is one animal that may be managed to convert all organic material from households (and industrial operations such as slaughterhouses) into fertiliser and more chicken food. With our New “Ergonomic Chicken Yard Panels” featured below: we can work and manage all types of chickens and turkeys within our 1000 metre square Long Yard Garden. (more than ample especially in conjunction with sheep) They will assist with Long Yard management by controlling new green shoots as needed, and spreading meat rich manures. Our Objective is to feed chickens with mostly meat and offal, insects, green plant material and 10 to 50% grain, verses 90% grain currently used in conventional production systems. We add Basalt Quarry Crusher Dust and Fine Ground Charcoal to fermented whole grains as chicken grit and to assist with re-mineralising Long Yard Garden soils. OUR MAIN OBJECTIVE is to grow and train chickens to work as biological tillers within our Long Yard Garden. It is an exciting time to be a Chicken in Australia.
